review 1: Wow, this was a really interesting read. I debated on the 3 vs 4 stars, but there were just too many unanswered questions at the end, I am hoping we find out more in the next book, which of course I now have to read. With that said, holy buckets I about got whip lash turning the pages at the end. I was dying with what was going to happen. My heart was leaping out of my chest! There are so many questions I have though about Becca, Caleb and their shared memory of Cassandra. I was really hoping to get to that at the end of this book. What's up with Ashleys mom and Becca's dance teacher, why does she have all these past life flash backs, is she ever going to tell Caleb, why does she remember the day of her birth... so. many. questions!! Ugh... I know what I will be doin... moreg today!! Great break out read from a local author. Lots of references to the Twin Cities, Plymouth and Wayzata area. Latuffs made the cut, I loved it. The few Twi references had me snickering at what felt like my own little private joke (a dog named Edward, haha!). I'm excited to see what Ms. Atkins brings to the stage in her sequel, "My Last Dance?".
review 2: I guess I am a bit baffled...I didn't know this book was going to be a series, so didn't expect to have so many unanswered questions at the end. The story itself was good, even if there were times when it moved kind of slow...I did like a lot of these characters, including Becca even with her schizophrenic behavior toward Caleb. The book was not perfect, but the storyline is a good one. I am hoping there is a next book that answers all of the open questions around what the deal is with Becca's physical symptoms, how she and Caleb are linked to Cassandra and Blake, what happened to Cassandra and Blake, what the deal is with Ashley, her mom, and Becca's ballet teacher to name a few. Caleb is practically perfect, but because of her fugues and nosebleeds, Becca decides that a relationship is not possible. Caleb already dated one "crazy" girl and she does not want to have her heart broken when he realizes that she is not "normal". I'll admit that having memories/visions of someone else and a past that is not your own is not something you can share with most people, but she doesn't share it with ANYONE, including her best friends, dad, or grandma. She just pretends it is getting better and just accepts that people either misses it or finds her strange. And yet she is in love with Caleb....which would not make sense given she won't spent most of her life avoiding him. Although it did not make sense I kind of went with that since as the book went along the more you learned about Caleb and his dreams, and their connection. You definitely get a lot of build up between these characters and Becca's emotional responses, but again, you get left with so many unanswered mysteries that by the end, you're happy they are making progress, but frustrated at the lack of closure. I definitely want to see where the author takes us and hope we are not looking at a long series. less
