review 1: Confusing! Frustrating! Maddening! This was NOT an easy read. It is complex only because of the poor writing. On more than one occasion I had to re-read parts for clarification, only to find there was none. It just wasn't worth going back so many times. I gave up trying to understand how and why the twins switched places.I had to force myself to finish it, and when I finally got to the epilogue, the author describes the h/h's 2 year-old daughter with blond curls, then a few paragraphs later her curls are dark. I thought another child had popped up. Someone should have caught all of the discrepancies that abound in this book.Noticing other reviewers have rated it higher than one star, I wonder if we read the same book. Historical romance novels are my favorite rea... moreds, and I have read hundreds over years. This has got to be one of the worse. So glad it was free.
review 2: Although I thought the way the story flowed was fairly decent, the heroine, Alyce was written as rather a nit wit in my opinion. She nearly always went with every decision made for her and was told constantly that the men running her life would take care of everything so she need not worry so about anything. I found her quite immature in most things. Guess I like my heroines with a bit more can-do and will test the boundaries spirit. less
