review 1: This BritLit book was surprisingly more chick lit in feel than I expected, although can a book about a middle aged woman be chick lit? Maybe middle age-lit. I did appreciate that the main character Constance was older, but she was so dense. I found myself annoyed that the as the reader I was able to figure out the entire machinations of her life so far in advance of Constance as to render her idiotic. It left no suspense and no questions. True there are some funny moments, and Constance is likable in some ways, but I just wanted a bit more dimension and heft to the story.
review 2: Funny, light story about a 50 year old woman's travails as a wife, mother, friend and daughter. Told in the form of Constance's blogs, I found myself laughing and enjoying the book
... more. At times, the language and events are a little too contrived, but still fun nonetheless. A good beach or vacation book. You can pick-up where you left off without having to remember complex characters or story lines. less

A sort of Bridget Jones' Diary for the middle-aged.
