review 1: 4 Stars!When I noticed this little jewel was in the freebies (on Kindle) the other day, I knew I had to read it. I didn't even read what it was about... the cover sold me immediately. Isn't it gorgeous?The author did a fabulous job with writing it. The heroine, Lady Solange, catches spies. She's widowed but she's only had one love in her life. It was when she was younger and she hasn't seen him in years.He calls himself Noir. He's been keeping up with her secretly for years. Together they look for the spy/spies that threaten their cause...They also give into their desires. Caution: erotica ahead!I enjoyed this sweet little book. I loved the history the author added throughout the story and I was pulling for the characters to be together the whole... more way.
review 2: There’s nothing quite like rekindled love, especially when it’s childhood sweethearts, who haven’t seen each other in many years.Lady Solange Starling catches spies within her cousin’s embassy—and is damn good at it, too. The war against Napoleon is all too close to home and she won’t have anybody standing in her way. That is, until the only man she’s ever loved appears out of nowhere one night and tells her he’s been in charge of who she captures the entire time she’s been in service. Lady Starling can hardly believe she’s seeing him again, alive and in the flesh. If ever there was a time to reawaken their feelings toward one another, now would be that time. But does Monsieur Noir feel the same about her?Overall, I enjoyed this short story. I’m always a sucker for historical romance, and I thought this was tastefully written; although, at times, I felt as if I was beaten over the head with politics and talk of war, which I care nothing about. If you enjoy historical romance with a dash of undercover work and warfare, I’d recommend picking this up. less
