review 1: A great read. An in depth, personal account of the ups and downs of family life, brotherhood, addiction and the early days of country music. I fell in live with this book. It's written as if Charlie Louvin has just sat down next to you at a bar and is telling you a story. Incredibly interesting chapters of tells of terror and unconditional love that made the Louvin brothers a legendary country duo. And it finally explains that crazy album art on "Satan is Real".
review 2: I just finished reading Satan is Real: The Ballad of the Louvin Brothers. ... moread I did. I kind of loved it. Charlie chronicles their early life on a farm in rural Alabama, their early gospel career, Ira's alcoholism, becoming famous, joining the Opry, etc. If you know anything about the Louvin Brothers, then you already know how this ends. It's a sad, bittersweet ending. Short, good read. Highly recommend. less

Super fun read. Country music stars of the 1950's were complete maniacs.
