review 1: Although well-written, I found the plot and the characters - and their views - all a bit crass. Danny may question some things but not for long, and is apparently so taken with the fine pieces of ass in his home, he has no worries about being held prisoner and held sexually captive.As for Brandon and Justin, they are a couple and compliment each other pretty well, but there really wasn't enough space or time to get a feel for them as individuals. I had to reread sentences or whole paragraphs a few times to try and figure out which name belonged to which shifter and vice versa.While Danny seems the monogamous type - or the monogamous polyamorous type - and both Brandon and Justin certainly show signs of deep feeling for each other and loyalty - the concept of finding multi... moreple other gay shifters to build a pack with, and of being sexually involved with a few more or all of them, as a kind of deterrent for me. Danny being in the closet all this time and very emphatically *not-gay,* then all of a sudden he's willing to sleep with whomever Brandon and Justin decide to bring in? .... just sounds a bit porn-ish in the making, to me.
review 2: This book took me a while to get into. Once I did, though, and the initial 'misunderstanding' and resulting pretty awful macho/dominant behavior was explained, I liked where the story went.I liked Danny immediately, even if he was a little TOO concerned with his family and doing the right thing, rather than his own life. He is one of those people who take a little longer to find out what they want and need from life. His heart is in the right spot, and he ends up making a desciosn that fits with who he is (and wants to become).Justin and Brandon, the two werewolves, started out with a big black mark against them (in my book). But, once I understood what they were up against and why they did what they did, it was clear they had just made a mistake, pretty much. They ended up redeeming themselves as well, and the happy end made up for my initial irritation.This is a quick read and people who like their shifters to be a little more like wolves than like humans will probably like this book. There is also some hot three-way sex and the potential for a real relationship between all participants. Hopefully that will be explored in the next book of the series. less
