review 1: Nursery Rhyme Comics, by Chris Duffy, is a graphic novel that can be used in many classrooms. I enjoyed the different stories that were depicted in this novel. A novel as simple as nursery rhymes transformed through graphics would be a great book to have available in my future classroom. Students that are slow readers or have a hard time reading will benefit by having this book available to them. These students will then think of words that could be used and relate them to a picture that they are seeing in the book. I would send this book home with a struggling reader for them to look at for fun to create the awareness that they are a good reader and thinker and while they are having fun looking at the comic they will increase their reading skills.

... moreursery Rhyme Comics" is a great book for a wide variety of ages. It can be read to preschool and kindergartners but the older kids in first, second, and third grade would enjoy it too. I think even fourth graders would like it because I love this book. The pictures and very vibrant and exciting. Plus, every page is different! Some pages have brighter colors while others have a more dull look depending on the nursery rhyme for that page. I think in a classroom nursery rhymes are great to get kids reading and also learn about rhyming words and poetry. I love that this book is a graphic novel because it looks just like a comic book and has some funny pictures in it too. In the back of the book there are notes about the illustrators which is really neat for the older children to look at. They could do research and find some other books from those illustrators or do a text set. The students could also make their own poem or draw a comic strip to one of their favorite nursery rhymes. less
