review 1: Not my most favorite of military books, but I respect the heck out of this guy. True military hero. The book is good and a fun account of Kyle's life, but overall is pretty standard and even a bit predictable- not in a bad way, just in a less entertaining way. Also, it feels like it jumps around quite a bit. If you are reading just to learn more about this awesome guys life, then it will be a very good read for you. Maybe I was looking for a little more. I don't know. This book seems like it would be a very good movie though, so I'm excited to see it.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book. I was very confronted by the redneck main character but I persisted and enjoyed the book simply to get a better understanding of what makes people like him tick. It contains an
... more interesting debate around the priorities of patriotism vs family duties. By the end of the book I realized I had more in common with the author than differences which came as a shock. Worth a read if you're at all interested in the military. less

This is a really good war memoir. Writing is better than expected and the pace is fast.
