review 1: This is one of those books that are vastly entertaining but very badly written - there was no finesse, no subtlety to the plot or the characters. It reads like a description list of events that happened in chronological order. However there was something addictive and readable about it and I literally felt physically compelled to finish it so I can know what happens next - so I suppose in that sense the book succeeded where many other much better written books did not.
