review 1: Ok wow where do I start?Lets all meet Jake, he is really a lost soul after struggling to deal with the death of his mother, instead of letting his feelings out, Jake has the problem of keeping everything inside until he explodes. he makes quite a few bad decisions by getting into fights etc.Then Maddie comes back from college and does the thing everyone in the community hopes she wouldn’t, make Jake look twice. and when he does he is hooked, their relationship is toxic from the start.The story really starts two years after Maddie has left. Jake is still completely devastated by her departure but it is more than that, other key factors play into this story which is explained later in the book.When Lily arrives in their small town, Jake starts to feel again for the first t... moreime in two years and his story finally starts to unravel as he puts his life back together.I hated Maddie, she had no redeeming qualities and by the end I really didn’t care what happened to her, she was selfish, spoilt and irresponsible - this isn’t a negative I think when an author can make you hate a character it shows she is developed well.There were difficult situations in this book that were hard to read and on the whole I loved it. there were a couple of things I didn’t like and I will now list them below, these things for me stopped it from giving it a 5 star.The story is fantastic however the switching of points of view got a little confusing and it distracted from the story a bit, I enjoyed knowing what everyone was thinking it just took me a while to figure out who it was.This is such a Sad story like the whole book is just sad from start to finish, by the end I can kind of see what Jake didn’t form attachments. how much hurt can one person take. I just felt sorry for him and well extremely Sad.Considering the book is a Sad story I was hoping the end would be at least a sliver of hope on the horizon - No such luck if you love your HEA I would probably avoid this book!!So here are my final thoughts. if you want a book that pulls you in filled with raw emotion then this is perfect for you but be warned, you need a box of tissues to get through it and I probably wouldn’t read if your feeling the slightest but depressed. you need to be happy while reading or at least have glee or something on standby to pull you back.I give this book 4.5 stars it really is worth a read.
review 2: This review may not even make sense because I'm just saw raw right now from finishing this book. I sobbed, screamed, and nearly drowned in the bathtub while reading this one. Three Days of Rain shattered me into a billion pieces, I wanted to run to Jake and just hug him as tight as I could and cry with him!! Amazing book, Christine Hughes!! Thank you for writing such an incredible story that reaches into the depths of our hearts and makes us look around and appreciate all that we have. less
