review 1: 'When Worlds Collide' is the first book in Caleb's trilogy. If you aren't familiar with the 'Phoenix Club' series by C.J. Bishop, not only do you need to be, but each of the young men has a trilogy of their own, although they are still featured within other books. I fell in love with Abel's trilogy and fully anticipate the same thing with Caleb. I want to see more of Gabe and Cole, Max, Horatio, Abel and Devlin, plus whatever other characters the author sees fit to introduce me to. Each of these young men has suffered heartache and pain, but Max has made the Phoenix club their family, and there isn't anything these young men won't do for each other. For a guy who has never stripped before, Caleb's debut performance almost brings the roof down. Good thing too, since Abel is ... moreno longer working there, the club needs a new, fresh face, and it looks like they all got lucky when Caleb came through the doors. Samuel and Caleb meet at a public pool one evening, and it's love at first sight, at least for Samuel, although Caleb isn't much further behind. Caleb doesn't want to tell him he's a stripper, and Samuel is hesitant to tell Caleb that his family is wealthy, even though Samuel hasn't got much use for any of them. They begin seeing one another, and take it from me, the sex is off the charts, but Samuel wants more from Caleb. Unfortunately, a client at the club has got his eye on Caleb.Brock is a high-powered criminal defense attorney and he wants Caleb. Caleb needs an attorney to help him get his brother, Nick's, conviction overturned. It's why Caleb works so hard to get as much money as possible, to support himself, send money to Nick in prison, and try to save some to hire an attorney. Caleb blames himself for Nick being in prison, for the accident that caused a little girl's death, and he visits Nick every month. Plenty of things have happened to Nick since he started serving his sentence that he'll never tell Caleb. Nick knows the guilt would crush his little brother. Interestingly, neither brother has ever told the other they're gay.Dane is one of the young men at the club and he takes an interest in Caleb. Once Dane meets Samuel and sees Caleb's eyes light up for him, Dane knows he has no chance. But he can be his friend, someone who Caleb can talk to about all his problems. Caleb's latest visit to see Nick reveals his brother's bruised and battered face, which Nick shrugs off, but Caleb can't forget, forcing Caleb to make a deal with Brock. When Samuel and Caleb go out on their first official date, well, a surprising revelation comes to the fore and life isn't looking too happy for Caleb.I adored Caleb and Samuel. I like the story line. I'm worried already about Max and Horatio's trilogy, because those two are killing me. I know Dane is going to get his heart broken over Caleb, but all I can do is hold his hand and hope for the best. I'm really looking forward to the rest of Caleb's story and I'm enjoying this series, very much.
review 2: I picked this up for free, not realizing at the time that there were 3 other books before it. After learning that, I was hesitant to read it without first picking up the others but decided to take the risk anyway. The risk paid off. I didn't need the other three books to follow along with this one. It was enjoyable all on its own. The only issue I have is that it leaves you wanting to know more...which means I now have to get the other two books for Caleb stat. LOL. It's a quick read, fast paced but not so much so that you feel like you're missing anything. The quickened pace here fits perfectly and can I just say, the loves scenes are hot. Damn. Window steaming, need a cold bath or shower kind of hot. Enjoyable read! Can't wait to read the others (and go back and start at the beginning when I'm done!) less
