review 1: Finally. A chicklit book where the protagonist/storyteller is not: having an affair, a widow, single, or discovering her husband is cheating/gay/bisexual. I enjoy chick lit, but pretty much all the ones I have read follow the story of a woman chasing or falling in love. It was so nice as a happily married woman to read a fun story about a happily married woman. The story centre's around Marie who has three kids and is married Tom a hard working man. She is successful in her own right, but struggles with juggling all the balls or being mother, wife and woman. The adventures of her life intermingled with her neighbours, kids, and husband make it still the fun chicklit book to read. There is still an affair to discover and grieve, there is baking, there is job love and the de... morelicious first love display. Totally enjoyable, even if is it brain candy like a lovely cake it is sweet, tasty and enjoyable to the last crumb.
review 2: What a brilliant read! There is a warning that comes with this book - you will want to eat cake and lots of it. This is definitely one for people that love' The Great British Bake Off'. Great family life story, found parts in it that I could relate to. The cover to this book is amazing, I literally bought it and then made a cake, now I like baking but this has inspired me to bake more, maybe from a Mary Berry book. I loved every single character, Claire has written it well to touch on certain issues and I just found it a heart warming story that you just want to snuggle up with and maybe have a cake or two. A laugh out loud read. less

Brilliant debut novel, and has left me wanting a sequel. Really hoping there is a follow up to this.
