review 1: I received a copy of this book for an honest review3.8 StarsThis book is emotional i will tell you that much.The story is is about Rebecca Trent. Who had a troubled upbringing, but I can't tell you anything without giving it away. I will say her mother never loved her and neglected her, he new family (when her mom remarries) abuses her ( i wont say how) and her best friend boyfriend abuses her as well..All leading up to tragic events that cause her broken. Bex as she likes to be called lives the best way she can by avoiding her past. She has an amazing new best friend Dan who she met as a teen. He happens to be rich and takes care of Bex, he is very overprotective of her. Within the book you will find out about Bex past and why she is the way she is; and even why Dan is th... moree way he is with her. can't give too much away and I am sorry if I am confusing you. If you looking for a romance not so much here but if you looking for something different this is still a great read with the cliffy.The good - The author writes well and will even piss you off at times but that makes you want to read more. The story will make you think.The bad -maybe too much unbelievable stuff and things that just don't go together. I feel like a little more could have developed with Dan and Bex, there was just things missing to make this a romance.
review 2: Rebecca Trent was a damaged girl. Her own mother hated her. As a young girl Becca's mom married Greg Sanders and with him came his son, Tyler, and daughter, Lisa. Becca's mom loved Lisa and she could do no wrong. Becca had been dating Ian since she was young and they went to college together and planned someday to be married. That all changed the day Becca found Ian making love to Lisa. Lisa was into binge drinking and drugs. It didn't take long until she turned Ian on to this also. He came to Becca on night drunk and raped her. They were both so screwed up they eventually fought over a gun and Ian killed Lisa and shot himself. They were in Becca's room so everyone blamed her for killing them both. Tyler introduced him to his best friend, because Becca really needed a friend. Daniel Brightmore was a very smart man and over time with Becca as his partner he became very rich and successful. Becca and he were best friends but Becca is so damaged by her life she can't imagine anyone liking her at all. She has many emotional problems and sees a therapist. This story is a cliffhanger, which I hate, but the story was very interesting and I think you will find that also. Now I can't wait to read the next book less
