review 1: There is something about the assassination of John F. Kennedy that seems to fascinate us all. This must be the 4th or 5th book I have read regarding the events of that terrible day and one question always lingers in my mind...What if? What if it had been raining?, What if the assassin had missed? What if the president had not gone to Dallas?, What if the president had lived?, What if the secret service could have been able to save the day? Alas we will never have the answer to any of these questions. Clint Hill gives a vivid account of the last few hours of the infamous 1963 Texas trip, the Assassination and Aftermath. Sad but good read for those interested in History.
review 2: No matter your personal opinion of the man or his policies, this is a heart rending
... more book. It focuses on the five days around the assassination of President Kennedy, as told by Secret Service agent Clint Hill, who was on site when it happened. He was, in fact, the agent who jumped on the presidential car when the shots rang out. I won't ever forget some of the stories told in this book. What a harrowing moment it was. I am glad for the insights into the days before and after the assassination as well, being too young to be alive for these days. less
