review 1: I bought this on a whim - I wasn't sure what to expect as I'm not overly familiar with Craig Ferguson but have seen clips of his Late Late show on YouTube & remember him turning up in the odd UK thing many years ago, I always found him very funny and thought "why not give it a go?". So glad I did - it's a brilliant book and he tells it like it is, or was. I liked his style of writing, it's refreshing and honest.
review 2: In recent months I have become a huge fan of Craig Ferguson, particularly his interviews and all around off the cuff style of humor, which feels a lot more genuine than some of the stiff and scripted feeling humor comedy is pulling away from. Quite often he mentions his past and his outlooks on the show, so I was intrigued and wanted to read
... more this book. His life is a great read, his rough childhood in Scotland, his rock and roll lifestyle of early adulthood, his struggles with alcoholism and ascent into comedy is really inspiration and his insights gained from mistakes really are enlightening! Also his feelings on becoming an American really helped me get a better look through the eyes of all the friends and family I've known who have made the move here and become citizens. A great book about a crazy life and I love his motto "when it comes to safety or adventure, I will always choose adventure!" less
