review 1: Denim Diaries: 16 going On 21 is the first book of the enthralling Denim Diaries series that tells the urban story of the lives of the teenagers at Langley High. The young Denim Mitchell has fallen head over heels and would do anything for her first love, Andre Patterson, even break or bend the rules. One dance, one lie, one party changes the course of their lives and their peers’ lives forever.
review 2: This week I have started reading '16 Going on 21' by Darrien Lee. So far this book is really intense it jumps straight into the action. Denim and Dré have been friends since they were three years old and it is clear how much they love each other. The only thing in their way is Denim's annoying and overbearing parents. Dré's birthday party has arrived so De
... morenim asks her mom if she is allowed to go. Denim knows the rule "no partying until your 16" but because its Dré she asks her mom for permission to go. Her mom responds 'no' and Denim lets her mothers decision rest. After handling some household chores Denim sees Dré outside and they begin to have a conversation. Dré confesses his love for Denim and she is taken aback. Denim tells Dré he needs to stop smoking or it will affect his future as an athlete but he doesn't care so she brings up love and tells him she loves him and if he loved her he'd stop. Dré promises to stop and Denim feels accomplished. He then asks her if she'll be able to make his party and she says 'no'. He tries to make her feel guilty which works but she doesn't give in. Hours pass by and Denim hears ticking on her window its Dré begging her to come to his party. She gives in and follows him. All Dre wants is one dance with her. But before the music even gets to the first verse a shot is fired, a man drops to his knees. The blood splatters on Denim and no one knows what to do. Dré quickening runs Denim home and everyone else tries to leave the rec center. Denim goes to sleep exhausted, not sure what to think. But she manages to play it off to her mom. The following days are hard for everyone including Dré who meets up with a friend, Demario, who tells him how crazy the guy who got shot is. The victim, Lil Carl, lost so much blood he went in to a coma. He warns him of his enemies who are on the loose. less
