review 1: It was an excellent read for anyone preparing to go into any sort of leadership ministry. At the very least, it forces one to think about things that one really should before engaging such ministry even if you come to disagreements with the author on his ideas. I also share the critique that others have mentioned that nothing mentioned seems to relate to the church planter specifically, but for ministry leaders in general.

I appreciated that it had almost no talk about specific tactics or models for planting as being the purpose of the book, but in detailing the requirements for the planter, the message of the church, and the mission the church is to be on. This approach is better because it focuses on the comm... moreon traits needed for a thriving, gospel-centered ministry rather than getting bogged down on ideas that have worked in one environment but may not work in others. less
