review 1: Immortal shape-shifting Spartan warrior boy meets modern-day Georgia peach demon-hunting girl and there's lots of blood and other bodily fluids spilled along the way. Love is definitely a many-dismembered thing in this but my only real criticism is that, if you're going to have the one and only King Leonidas hacking and slashing his way down through the centuries, please give him Queen Gorgo to keep him company. Somebody needs to write a good novel about those two!
review 2: I originally saw Leonides story first. I am a huge 300 fan and anything with the Spartans is sacrosanct. I enjoyed this read. Its paced well. The characters are interesting. Couldn't wait to get to the next book. River. Shay is a good female interest. Shes spunky and clueless to some extent... more. Yet still manages to fit the role. But the story- hows and whys? Fits and is believable. Accept once again the jerkball God. Why did anyone ever worship them? *shakes head* I get tired of the Gods always being so damn cruel. less
