review 1: This is one of the most adorable tales imaginable, and I hope the book never goes out of print. It's a refreshing antidote to today's crazy, social media-driven world, a simple story about a man who rescues a kitten, nurtures him into an amazing cat, and the simple but fulfilling life they share by the fireplace and in the garden at Owl Cottage and the surrounding countryside. I don't even like cats, and I fell totally in love with Toby Jug and his best human friend. I highly recommend this book for pet lovers, people who need a mental break from all the commercial craziness, and anyone who just likes a good old-fashioned cozy story. As many readers have noted, this isn't great literature, and it's not a recipe for how to live your life. So the author is a bit eccentric...... morewho cares...I wish everyone had his compassion towards helpless creatures. I found the book at the library and was happy I couldn't renew it because there's a wait list. I hope the word continues....
