review 1: Just as a reminder, the 3 star rating only reflects my personal views based on my reading preferences and interests. I do not usually choose to read nonfiction, historical books for pleasure, but I read this book as part of a book club selection. The book was well researched, largely based on Abigail Adams' letters to and from her sisters. ... moredams is Edith Gelles' "Abigail and John: Portrait of a Marriage." Diane Jacobs does a fine job, however, exploring some of this information as well as much more about her life with her sisters in "Dear Abigail: The Intimate Lives and Revolutionary Ideas of..." Students of Revolutionary women, revolutionary women, and women's revolutions will all be just as pleased as those who come to learn about home chores and child-rearing. Fans of Abigail, her time period, women's relationships, personal correspondence, and strong women will all appreciate this text and do well to seek it out. less

A slow read but interesting. Just not a book you devour. I did more skimming than reading.
