Anonymous is a Woman Theatre Company will present Madeline Gould’s play based on a real-life War time scandal as part of the Vault Festival from the 7th to the 11th February.
The war office has employed Bette and Vera to travel the country hosting tea dances to boost morale. But how will the RAF boys react when they discover the women’s real purpose: to send the young men off to fight having experienced all of life’s pleasures? Join the ladies for an unforgettable dance, a rousing song, and a real-life war time scandal that threatens to destroy the women’s lives, shame the community and tear apart one already splintered RCAF crew. Can you save the night?
Playing at the Vault Festival following a rural UK tour, Think of England is an immersive production which will recreate 1940’s London and the air raid shelter that was originally situated under Waterloo Station.
Madeline Gould’s play is based on the real-life war time scandal that threatened to destroy these women’s lives and will see audiences joining in with the unforgettable dance and rousing song while witnessing the story unfolding around them.
Talking about bringing the show to London, producers Leila Sykes and Pip Brignall said: “Everywhere we went on tour the show resonated in a different way based on that community’s war time history and we are so excited to bring this new adaptation to a space which has such a rich legacy. Sharing this immersive experience with VAULT’s audience in a venue that was one of the most bombed areas in the Blitz yet still used as an air raid shelter will bring an extra level of poignancy to Madeline Gould’s powerful drama.”
Think of England will play at the Vaults from the 7th to the 11th February. Fore more information and to book tickets visit: https://vaultfestival.com/whats-on/think-of-england/.
