review 1: I recently read Billy Crystal's biography "Still Foolin' 'Em" and wanted to compare his ego with Diane Keaton's. There is no comparison. Diane is still "Annie Hall" with little or no ego and is charming as ever. Her memoir is even unique. Instead of just her story, she also tells her mother's story from her journals that Diane read after her death. They are both remarkable women and interesting characters but still very "real" people. You feel like you could be their friends. Her mother was Mrs. Los Angeles at one time and a photographer who always yearned for recognition. Instead she took care of her children and husband without complaint. She was a wonderful woman.Diane does not share everything in her life and I admire her for that. She doesn't bad mouth any of her ex l... moreovers (Woody Allen, Al Pacino, Warren Beatty) and she includes her adopted children Dexter and Duke in the story without divulging much about them. Kudos for that. The most heart wrenching part for me was after her father's death. She describes the coroner and the people who came to get his body in such a moving way. In fact she is the narrator of this life story and you could feel the emotion as she read this portion. I cried along with her. If you like Diane Keaton and would like to know more about her, this book helps.
review 2: I find Diane Keaton so easy to relate to. I don't know what it is about her but I have grown down-right obsessed! I picked up this one from Audible and just fell in love. The relationship with her mother was at times almost painfully close to home. Well written and having Diane reading it to me made it almost like a long, wonderful conversation with a dear friend!I will absolutely be picking up her new one! less
