review 1: It's an interesting idea, but I didn't like it as much as I thougt I would. There were a few too many letter writers who are only a handful of years beyond high school graduation, plus a few too many who seemed to be using their letter to show how awesome they were as teens. Lots of alcoholic fathers and other difficult situations. My favorite stories were the girl who skipped prom to go to a Grateful Dead concert, but then got stranded when her car was towed from the parking lot, and the boy who was humiliated when he lost his shirt (literally) in a breakdancing dance-off. He had a great perspective: the horrible, embarassing things that happen to you are the stories that you will tell later in life, so dance on, you magnificent dork.
review 2: Interesting
... more collection of advice from the future. I can't quite give it four stars because I found it depressing in some ways - why do the teenage years have to be so hard? I may have my daughter read it, I know she could relate, but once again all the angst in it might be too much for her right now. And as for YOU, teen me, that guy you never spoke to again because you thought you were the butt of a joke - he was flirting with you, you big dummy. Took you 20 years to figure it out, but yeah. Would it have changed your life? No, but you wouldn't have thrown a potential friendship to the curb for no good reason. less
