ELECTRIC STORIES is a theme that sounds like it should pack a punch and shock the readers and let me tell you there was plenty of electric inspiration behind the August TheYAChronicles box! With plenty of Aussie influence but also some of the big names in the pop culture world, it was a delight to scratch through the contents and explore just what the team have pulled together.
I had some thoughts about what the book would be as I’d seen a few upcoming book release posts on social media and started to put things together but I’m quite glad it was The Undercurrent by Paula Weston which is actually a #LoveOzYA book as well! One of my favourite things is how supportive the TYAC girls are of supporting Australian authors and their writing and it’s so great to see another Aussie book included in this month’s box.
In further evidence of their support of Aussie authors, there was also an interview from another #LoveOzYA author Ellie Marney about her recently self-published book No Limits. Its a sort of companion story to her best-selling Every series and deals with some pretty heavy topics but sounds absolutely compelling. Her interview demonstrates how passionate she is about her story and now I’m super tempted to go track down her books just to see what the fuss is about (thanks TYAC!)
So, what other electric treats did we get? There’s nothing that says electricity more than everybody’s favourite Pokemon Pikachu and we got two super cute pens featuring the adorable ball of yellow cuteness! Plus they write really well and they’re now looking pretty resting inside my Court of Dreams pencil case from DorothyReads, which is inspired by A Court of Mist and Fury and everybody’s favourite electric couple Feyre and Rhys. There was also an exclusively coloured woodmark from one of my personal favourites InkAndWonderDesigns featuring a quote from Rupi Kaur’s incredible Milk and Honey (if you haven’t read it get on it soon!) and for those moments when you just need to relax while the rain and thunder surrounds you, there is a gorgeous cauldron bath bomb from BubbleButtBathProducts to set the scene.
With the September box TheYAChronicles will be celebrating their 2nd anniversary and I’m so exited to see what they have planned for their SQUAD GOALS box to celebrate (and I’m going to have an extra little surprise in this month’s box too that I just can’t wait to get my hands on!)
