review 1: Braybrook doesn't want his sister to marry this dude, Harry, so he goes to Harry's hometown to scope him out. Meets his sister, Christy, and immediately hires her as a hybrid companion/governess because REASONS. So he's all like 'WHY AM I SO INTO HER' and she's like "HELL NO I WON'T BE YOUR MISTRESS' and they end up married, of course, and then unnecessary drama, hea, etc. I DON'T KNOW. I enjoyed bits of the dialogues between the heroine and hero--some of the preconceived notions about wives versus mistresses. I don't know. It was interesting. But the rest of it suffered from treacly writing, ridiculously overwrought drama, and a stupid butthead hero.
review 2: I got this on my Kindle and read it in one sitting. It was great! I'm a sucker for penniless heroine
... mores as it's a condition I've frequently found myself. I liked the dialogue between the h/h and humor. The kids in the story weren't overly prominent which I also appreciated.I don't normally read Regencies and I've never read anything by this author before. I may have to find her backlist and start downloading them. less

Like Balogh with a strong Heyer influence. So, pretty good :-)
