review 1: Excellent sequel to The Green Glass Sea. The story of Dewey and Suze in the late 40s is fascinating - a time in history (just after the war yet before the 1950s) seldom written about. Dewey and Suze are still in New Mexico, and everyone is dealing with the fallout from the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki (figuratively, in the US). The author is really good at painting both the large picture (the world, aftermath of war, their community) and the everyday world of two girls who don't ffit the stereotypes of 40s girls. I read it so quickly - I couldn't put it down!
review 2: This book is the sequal to "Green Glass Sea" (a book about the children who were living on "THE HILL" while there parents were making the Atomic Bomb.) This book however is now 9 m
... moreonths after the bomb has dropped and the war has ended. I was told it was from the parents perspective however it is not. It is still from the kids perspective. Two teenage girls that become more then best friends, but family. Check out this book!!! less

Enjoyable YA book with strong/smart female leads. Not as good as Green Glass Sea.
Stuff
Expected more about the rockets than Dewey getting reunited with her mother.
