review 1: I love this book so much, and I will absolutely read any NA novels Ellie Cahill (Liz Czukas) publishes in the future. When Joss Met Matt is a contemp about a unique and precarious friends-with-benefits situation (sorbet, if you will), set during college and the years just after. The writing is spot-on, the steamy scenes are just the right sort of steamy, and the characters are layered and likable (Joss is delightful and a bit nutty; Matt is so sweet, but a little dense when it comes to romance). When Joss Met Matt is one of those All the Feels books (but without the crazy angst that's become synonymous with NA), and I can’t remember the last time I rooted for a couple so enthusiastically. It’s out February, 2015, and you should DEFINITELY read it!
review 2:... more I hadn't read any of Ellie's YA novels, but I can tell you that after reading this one, she sure can create a good story. My only complaint was the lack of...new adult in this new adult novel. This felt more like a really mature YA. Perhaps I'm too spoiled by all the NA that's disguised as erotica, but I wanted more than fade to blacks and innocent kissing. Every time I thought it was going to happen, it switched POV's or times and I was left disappointed. For those that love a good love story, but aren't worried about the smut aspects will flock to this book. Matt was swoony and sweet and I really liked Joss. The whole Sorbet idea was a brilliant way to bring them together (and something I've never read before), so I liked the freshness of it. Get your hands on this one when it hits shelves, I don't think you'll be sorry. less
