review 1: This Australian set romance is an unlikely one night stand’s evolution into something more.I liked the professional side of things, Jess, a veterinarian as much in need of healing as her patients, and Sean, a genre author who laps up the worship of fans in lieu of the worship he’s never received from his parents.Jess, reeling from a bad marriage, negatively overreacts at seemingly every turn, for instance, she’s so hung up on the age difference between her and Sean, that at one point she wonders whether someone would mistake her for Sean’s mother - even though Jess is only in her mid-thirties and Sean’s in his late twenties??? The author provides ample motivation for the inferiority issues at play here, but at times it’s frustrating when Jess takes even the mo... morest innocuous moments as personal slights, and it’s just as difficult to embrace Sean when huge career success isn’t enough for him, he has to have more.Just For Today…, challenged me to keep in mind that just because things like their minor age gap doesn’t strike me as a big deal, it doesn’t mean it wouldn’t feel like the end of the world if I were in Jess or Sean’s skin.The couple irritated me in certain scenes and I kind of like that, that they were flawed, I admire that Emmie Dark didn’t shy away from showing Sean and Jess in unflattering lights, that she took that risk, and that love didn’t miraculously or instantaneously cure their insecurities, they linger, just as in life. And if you're a dog person, Suzie and Eddie are lovely additions to the story.
review 2: I was so lucky to read this as Emmie wrote it and I alternated between sighing over the sexy banter between the hero and heroine and laughing at the snappy dialogue. While they can't keep the sizzle from erupting between them, the hero and heroine, have to face some serious personal issues and discover just how much they need each other . . . I love a well-deserved happy ending.You will not be disappointed with this book. A deeply satisfying, romantic, sexy and emotional read from beginning to end. less
