review 1: A VERY interesting book about the factors (innovation that is exponential, digital, and recombinant) driving technological progress in, the authors argue, quite unprecedented ways. While generally fairly optimistic about the outlook, the book also has a healthy interest in ways new digital technology does disrupt, if not dissolve, workforce opportunities, and interesting suggestions for near-term and longer-term policies regarding education, infrastructure, market regulation, and taxation.
review 2: One of the things I did NOT need was another genre of books to read. Unfortunately, The Second Machine Age has opened my eyes to areas that I need to spend some time considering. It frames a future that is genuinely exciting!". I could not agree more... unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it :-)) I guess I'll be adding even more books and articles to review and consider. Highly Recommended. less
