review 1: Oddechovka na jeden večer/deštivé odpoledne. Ona Německo miluje, on (marně) hledá nacisty, Fritzl Schnitzl a davy v uniformách nebo aspoň kroji.Během toho výšlapu na Zugspitze jsem se dost spřátelila s Baderovými. Aha. S oběma, nebo jak?Ano. Ale možná ještě víc s ním. ...A dneska přijdou na večeři. Dneska?Zapomněla jsem ti to říct. OK. Něco připravím. Fajn. Ale myslím, že bys neměl mluvit o válce. Cože? Ani o pokusu o atentát na Hitlera? Ne. A nic o nacismu jako takovém. Tak ne. Nic o tom, co se stalo mezi roky 1939 a 1945, na žádném místě na světě. A co první světová válka? Ne. Sjednocení Německa a založení říše v roce 1871? Ne. Berlínská zeď? Myslím že ne. Ale nechceš snad, abych úplně mlčel? Myslím že ne... more. ...
review 2: This book lured me in because it had a cute retro cover, mentioned Nigella Lawson and claimed it was rife with dark humour.This was in fact the least humorous book I've ever read in my life. Perhaps I just don't grok the Northern European humour, it was like reading a script for a 1980's British comedy, the kind Dutch people find funny 20 years after Britain did, like Allo, Allo or Blackadder. A few pages in there was a rape joke in regard men locking their children in their basements that was as far from funny as a rape joke can be. I guess that's comedy in Norway, idk. Also there was no speech quotations and signifiers around people talking. I just don't like that. It gets murky as to who is speaking and you have to go back to clarify, it's annoying, ain't no one got time for that. In the end the seriously 20 decades old humour, lack of understanding the cultural references and unpleasant writing construction made me abandon it. less
