review 1: I've always been just a little bit in awe of Essa and now I'm totally in love. This was such a fun romp, between a high school crush gone wrong, mobsters, man eating tigers, a slightly delusional and unhinged crime lord(ess) and a diamond shitting, spitting llama (it'say freaking alpaca, Sasha!), I really didn't have much time to sleep. Gabby and Jesse are so cute - there is nothing more powerful than rediscovering that first crush - and neither of them are schmaltzy nor pushovers. They are perfectly lovely. Nick, Grigor (generic Russian indeed) and Sal, simply add to the mischief and charm. But it's Russell who steals the show and break hearts (llama love). Sal is ver like Mimi's Cimil. I'm not even sure if she isn't a goddess in her own right. I will be diving stra... moreight into the next book. Please, don't wait as long as I did to read this. It's way too much fun not to share amongst friends.
review 2: Well how can one guilty conscience lead to all of this excitement. Jessie feels bad for the way he treated his high school tutor and plans to find her so that he can apologize after all these years. Once he found Gabby he never thought his next 48 hours would turn out as they did. While being chased by the Ukrainian mafia, a wild pack of animals, and befriending an insane Italian mob girl he ends up just where fate would want him to be. Good story with a few uneasy laughs! less
