review 1: This book has some great passages but, as with other books by Eva Rice, I felt like it needed a stronger editor. Particularly in the beginning, the story lacked structure: the narration was like a leaf that went whenever the wind blew. Additionally, it had a lot of typos and punctuation out of place, leaving me with the feeling that it was hastily put together. There are many enjoyable things about Eva Rice's writing; it is witty and clear and she deals with her themes the same way I would so I find the books familiar and comforting, but I think it can still get better.
review 2: It was a charming and entertaining read. Wonderful coming of age wherein the heroin pursues her ambitions and trying to stay true to herself at the same time. Found myself engrossed
... more in the compelling characters, friendships, secrets, and betrayal, but at time found the story's pace was a bit slow moving at times. My favourite character was Tara who remained true throughout the story, not only for herself but for Lucy and Matilda. less
