review 1: I wanted to like this more than I actually did in the end. It's a great premise, but it lacked in the execution in my opinion. There were some beta type errors that threw me out of the story a bit (e.g. there is no UT Nashville) but I could have mostly overlooked those. What really cinched it was the abrupt ending. There was no "dealing with the fallout." It just went from the momentous revelation straight to the following night, where it jumped to "we'll find a way to deal" and is neatly ended before we see any reactions or anything. Just done. I was very disappointed with what felt to me like a cop-out ending. I actually give this 2.5 stars, rounded up to because I did like the characters and premise so much.
review 2: I'm not really sure how to rate this o
... morene. I mean, the "mystery" on why Edna doesn't want to see his son (Seth) ends up heartbreaking (though I can make a guess on that one). It's an issue that is rarely touched. In addition, this is a multi-cultural relationship, since Austin is black and Seth is white, so that one is nice. But for overall tone, I'm not feeling the story very well. Is this about the romance between Austin and Seth? Or about forgiveness and reunion and chances between Edna and Seth? I don't get the purpose of chapter 1, either. Plus it ends rather abruptly. less

I enjoyed this story but the ending was just a little too quick and easy for my liking.
