review 1: I made myself finish this book as I got it as a first reads giveaway but I just didn't like it very much and was bored in places. I didn't like the characters especially the main one Tessa and as a consequence I just didn't care what happened to them. The romance seemed tacked on and pointless, like they were together more out of convenience then anything else. As for the two mysteries, yawn, one was predictable and the family one I couldn't see why it was a mystery at all, why make her search through all that stuff if she wanted her to know, why not just write her a letter?
review 2: Although the theme is quite predictable (The title says it all really), I enjoyed reading this book thoroughly. The narrative and characters both developed from beginning through ... moreto the end, and were engaging and endearing. A nice feel good novel about relationships and the concept of family and home. If you're looking for an epic saga stay away. If you're looking for a well written escape with a happy ending, I'd happily recommend. less
