Race, vice, violence, sex, graft and Louis Armstrong; it's never dull in New Orleans, but Krist found and reports exceedingly well about a memorable and transformative decade.
review 2: An interesting enough book pretty well researched that covers the wild and woolly history of New Orleans around the turn of the last century. The book delves into episodes of crime, mayhem, Storyville, and the nascent jazz movement that really originated here. The book for me bogged down into some ted
... moreium with what seemed a little too much detail to fill pages. However on balance it was interesting enough to keep things moving along and an overall enjoyable and informative read. New Orleans' checkered history is still part of its appeal today where people come to party and blow off steam. Luckily it is maybe not quite as dangerous as those yester years. Maybe. less
