review 1: The cover, which seems a little too similar to a Sookie Stackhouse book, only vaguely pertains to the story. The plot is simple enough - it's World War II in a little village in Britain and the Germans are coming. However, in this case, the Germans infiltrating the village are vampires. But that's only the set-up, as the real story is the romance, that of a lovely village doctor and a young man, madly attracted to one another but through various missteps (the old yes-no-yes-no) and meetings (fancy meeting you here) finally end up fornicating as many times as they can. And a vampire dies.
review 2: This was a cute story. It isn't very meaty, but I would recommend it for someone whose between books and waiting for one of their fav authors to publish something new
... more. The prose and writing are well done, and main characters very likeable. I tend to prefer books that don't villianize vampires, which this one does. Basically, vamps are used by germany during ww2 to sabotage england. The vampires aren't reslly written about much. There are a few short chapters dedicated to them, specifically one in particular, but you don't get to know them and they are very one dimensional. I liked this book and think it was worth the time, but it isn't a page turner. less

Set in the WWII era; however, the book didn't translate well as being writen during that era.
