review 1: Meh. This was ok - IF you read it as a late mid-grade / early YA novel. I realize that the narrator is a 14 year old girl, but the writing was super awkward. There were several sentences that I had to read over a few times before I could piece together what she was trying to say. And though Perry is supposedly a gifted student and citizen, her college admissions essay is REALLY elementary. "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" is almost more profound. Give this to the 12 or 13 year old in your life and they'll get a kick out of it. But it is really mis-categorized as adult fiction.

... morend I had to force myself to finish the last 40 pages or so, for which I am glad because the epilogue (or #coda7 I believe is the name given to it in the book) made the book a bit more palatable. I could see recommending this book to high school age readers, as I do not recall any mention of mature matters. less
