review 1: It's a clever concept and I think that it starts out really well. And the idea of horror addressing societal issues in in full-effect here, in pretty amusing ways. But, like a lot of the genre, I think it's better at the set-up and the atmosphere than the actual pay-off. I found myself skimming when the "bad" stuff actually started happening and the explanation/resolution was a bit of a letdown. Although I was satisfied with the end ending and it's such a fun package.
review 2: The concept and design of this book are incredible. Set out as an 'Ikea' catalog (although it should be noted that the text is set in the fictional store 'Orsk', described by the novel's protagonist, Amy, as "the all-American furniture superstore in Scandinavian drag, offering well desig
... morened lifestyles at below-Ikea prices"), the text offers a refreshing critique of the retail environment paired with a thrilling plot. The details of the production of this text are delightful, with the store maps, home delivery order forms, info pages, as well as the chapter titles, which are named after specific pieces of 'Orsk' furniture. The text is relatable and surprisingly critical. While it is not nightmarish in its horror, 'Horrorstor' still is thrilling. Not a long read. 5 stars. less

I stopped reading a National Book Award winning book to read this. I couldn't help myself.
