review 1: It's hard for me to say exactly why I liked this book so much. I know that I laughed as much as I cried. I found the story of Gwen and her cats in the aftermath of 9/11 powerful and moving. I had fun getting to know the various feline characters sharing the stage--Scarlett and Vashti as well as Homer himself. And I read the book with the knowledge that Homer had passed over the Rainbow Bridge in August of 2013. So it was a bittersweet experience for me...Homer was an amazing, loving, adventurous, feisty and brave-hearted cat, and his like will not be seen again...

... more reason is that Gwen Cooper is a fantastic writer. She is such a great story teller and not just because Homer has great stories to tell. I say this is because of her description of the events in NYC gave me chills. I also think anyone that has ever had a pet (cat or dog or otherwise) will appreciate the connection that Gwen has with cats and her devotion to them. I highly recommend this book! less
