review 1: Elly is sixteen and pregnant. Her parents are extremely religious and view what she has committed as a sin. They try and convince her to not only give the baby up but to give it to her older sister who has been trying to conceive but kept having miscarriages. But our little Elly is a very stubborn young lady and tells her parents that her boyfriend and her have gotten engaged and are getting married and that she plans on keeping the baby. Her parents being as religious as they are conceded for she threTened to live with Lam without being married which of course is another sin. Now she's married but married life isn't what she thought it'd be. She's living on site for a fat camp as she calls it and works there without getting paid. She and Lam living in a one room cabin. Bu... moret things keep happening and getting thrown. In Ellys way. Things that don't always have to do directly with the pregnancy and deciding what she is going to do with the baby. What will be the outcome for Elly? Will she have her dream family? Or will matters out of her control tear her dreams and wishes apart? Will Elly ever actually grow up??Although I did enjoy the book, I had my complaints. One we don't get much information on Elly until, she's pregnant. We don't know just how reckless she had been except for her word and the parents. Two, Lam (terrible name) was such a flat character. I could tell everything he was going to do long before he did it. Three Ziggy (yet another horrid name) and his deception weren't played enough. Three give your baby to your sister? Umm weird. Four working at a "fat camp" and not getting paid is child abuse I'm pretty sure. Overall it was a pretty good book. But the internal conflict with Elly could have been expanded on a bit. I almost felt like I could never tell what she was going to say the next time someone asked her what she was going to do with the baby. There was no thought process.
review 2: I have to admit that it was an extremely dissappointing book. While I usually enjoy YA this one was ridiculous. The main character is portrayed as a stubborn 16 year old pregnant girl who thinks she knows what she's doing. I really disliked her along with the other characters; none of them had any depth. I did give it two stars because part of the ending surprised me and I admire the author for giving it a semi twist (I say semi because then it goes back to being predictable) less
