review 1: Low-spoiler-level review ;) This book kept me awake at night despite the tests I had to take next day. It closed me in its world and made me forget about my own. I felt like I was going on the road trip, like I could hear the music played in the background, like I could sense the tension between Jake and Harper... The characters are typical, but in a good way. There's Laney who is thought to have it all, but actually struggles with limits and lack of acceptance on her mother's side. Despite that, she can still be the positive, crazy bestie. There's Jake who is excitingly mysterious and horny on good music. The best thing is that he listens to MY sounds like Led Zeppelin and The Doors. There's Harper, whose self-consciousness and helplessness is described in such a true way... more. "Saving June" is about frendship, affection, rebellion... However, on the top of it, this is a story about finding your inner strength. All of that to the best playlist possible.
review 2: Well quite an armature read... I could never really point on where I was during the road trip... A heavy theme of death was managed pretty okay... A lot of discrimination on a particular religion if ya ask me... But. AMAZING SOUNDTRACK. Very retro and I could relate to it. I expected more from the author having read her second book which was incredible so I was a little disappointed. And I think it also had one of the most meaningless sex EVER! So three stars it is. PS: I think sweet evil had one off the best road trips ;) less
