review 1: Grab a cup of hot chocolate a snuggling blanket and get read for a cute Christmas read. Meet Emma Wild. A Grammy award winning singer and song writer. She is heart broken after breaking up with her movie star boyfriend. She heads home to Hartfield Ontario to her family for Christmas. Where there is an attempt on her life and a murder of another Emma . As Emma finds out the love of her life is now a police detective signed to the case. As they work through the case they work out the reasons why they broke up and rekindle their romance. This is the first book in the series and is a cute light Christmas read. The characters are believable they are flawed in a way that makes you care for them. Its a great hometown read . That is based in Canada, which is awesome all on th... moreeir own. The romance is there but it isn't on the forefront. There is hints of it through out the book . But it more of a mystery and intrigue. Emma become a detective to help out . The reader takes us on a very sweet ride in small town romance. The only thing wrong is there is a big cliff hanger. Other then that its a great evening read full of mystery, suspense and full of surprisesCheck it out , if you like mystery combined with a little laughter check it out . Have an awesome Christmas read
review 2: Killer Christmas (An Emma Wild Holiday Mystery #1) by Harper LinOkay -- what's the deal with calling a piece that is barely long enough qualify as a novella a novel? I mean, really, A little over 2 hours of reading is a novel? I don't think so. And yes, that cost Harper Lin's Killer Christmas a star. On the plus side this was a delightful short story. The author's choice of first person narrative is perfect for her main character, Emma Wild. There is a just-sitting-talking-with-a-friend feel to the story that is very enjoyable. The characterizations are done well, with enough different characters to keep the reader guessing, but not so many as to be confusing. Very good pacing, interesting plot and a satisfactory ending, if you don't mind a bit of an emotional cliffhanger -- and you all know how I feel about cliffhanger endings! No spelling errors, grammar errors or run on sentences, so kudos for good editing and proofreading. Emma Wild is a superstar, having left her small hometown after high school to pursue a career in singing/songwriting. She is returning to her hometown for the first time in several years, having just broken up with her long time boyfriend. She left her hometown originally with a broken heart, and now she is returning to it with her heart broken anew. Problem is, someone in her hometown wants her dead and sets out to accomplish this almost as soon as Emma's feet hit the Hartville pavement. Fans, paparazzi, family, old friends, new friends, old flames and old enemies -- who wants Emma gone for good? This is a romantic mystery. Not my favorite kind, but at least the author does a good job with her kissy-face scenes; no embarrasingly pronographic blow by blow bedroom scenes, just some nice emotionally charged embraces with the rest left where it should be left -- in the reader's imagination. The story was so short that I didn't feel I got a full look at the characters. However, the ending wasn't such a cliffhanger that I don't feel I can look at it as a stand-alone story. less

Cute, cozy mystery. I liked it for a light read, a break from my usually-heavy reading.

A quick read. It felt rushed and the end was a cliff hanger whitch I hate.
