review 1: Read like a YA novel for adults, if that makes sense. The main character is a young girl who is sent to live with her aunt and uncle in North Eastern Washington. The aunt belongs to a church that is very controlling. Parishioners are not allowed to read secular books, and secular education is not valued. Despite all of their differences, the young girl and her aunt develop a deep connection. It's a story about love in many forms. I had a hard time getting into it, at first, but ended up loving it.
review 2: While it's not categorized as Young Adult fiction, it reads like it. Yes, some chapters are narrated by adults but the majority come from the two 16 year old lovers, two semi interesting teenagers who are IN LOVE with each other. There are some cool descript
... moreions of Eastern Washington, and the story does attempt to entice the reader to find out what happens to the characters, but there is too much Hallmark Movie of the week dialogue to wade through for me. less
