review 1: I met Heather at LTUE and we instantly hit it off. When she started telling me about her book, of a girl--Kate, who could see the outlines of peoples' auras, including demons kicked out of hell, I said, "Heck, Yeah, I want to read your book." Though I admitted that it is very, (I used the word "atrociously") pink, I over-looked it and had a go.Heather has a good grasp of the audience she is targeting. Her language, storyline, believeable teenage situations are well written. I really liked Heather's characterization. Each had such a clear voice and a consisted story behind who they were and what defined them. I loved that. I immediately fell for Patrick, the Irish Guardian (angel), and heard the lilting accent as I read. Well done.In the beginning I loved the new Irish kid,... more but as the story progressed I kept worrying about the reality of this. I wanted Kate to fall for him, but if he's an angel, can he stay with her? What a wonderful juxtaposition. No spoiler here.In the end, it's a fun read. I highly recommend, even though it's pink.
review 2: I picked up this book because my local librarian recommended it. (He knows the authors family) and I will give almost anything a try. When I got home and listed it as a current read here, I got nervous. It has such mixed reviews. And while I admit it is meant to appeal to a younger audience than myself ( I think my 15 year old DAUGHTER will LOVE it), I DID enjoy the book.If all you do is read the cover, you have no idea what this story really is. The characters are all lovable in their unique ways. The story is well written and flows really well, holding your interest in every chapter. The love story side, is not the main focus of the story, but a side story and it is cute and believable, while slightly predicable. The rest of the story however, is not predicable and had a couple of twists that I enjoyed. The cliffhanger left me curious for more and very glad that I had "discovered" the book after all three had been written. If you like fiction, especially demons, guardians and seers; then I would recommend this book. Especially if you are or have a teenager. I myself will be reading the rest of the series. less
