review 1: This book describes 90 famous books all distilled down to four cartoon panels. It's a fairly clever idea, unfortunately it is executed so terribly that reading it is an exercise in painfully wasted time. The author has little talent for description, and miserable talent at comedy. And yes, almost every book, no matter the genre, is described in an unpalatable attempt at humor. The cliches are stale, the jokes are juvenile, and the descriptions are really, well, pointless. After a while I began to wonder just who this book is meant for. Is it for people who might want to read the books described? Surely not, as many of the descriptions insult these classics, and quite a few of them spoil the ending of the novel as well. What is the value in reading this book, then? ... more Absolutely nothing, I assure you. I dragged myself through a number of summarized books, before reaching the straw that truly broke the camel's back. Author Henrik Lange described the book "Number One Lady's Detective Agency", a book about a lady detective in Africa. The description was so inaccurate that it's blatantly obvious he never read the book. In addition, his summary used stereotypical, hip-hop, "you go girl" slang to describe the actions of a black character. That's African-American slang, to describe an African character who would not recognize such slang at all. Because, you know, all black people are the same, right? The book is not just a waste of time, in places like this it is actually offensive. Every joke is a sophomoric dud, every description is a tepid (if not grating) over-simplification. This book is crap, don't wasted your time on it.
review 2: I have read 18 of the 90, and am familiar with another 18. Based on that sample size, I would say that the author does a pretty good job of distilling each book into the requisite 4 panels. I am pretty sure that this work is meant to be more funny than informative, but in my opinion, it was equal amounts of both. I found very few to be laugh out loud hilarious. Even so, it was a fun 35 minutes. less

Vcelku vtipný počin. Nutno brát s trochou nadhledu a úspěch se dostaví.
