review 1: If I didn't know this was a memoir as a opposed to a fictional account, I would have been on the edge of my seat the entire time wondering whether Hilary and Mark would ever get married. Mark, although clearly in love with Hilary, was the ultimate commitment phobe and Hilary...well Hilary had the patience of a nun and there were so many times I wanted to tell her to pack up her shit and move on because she deserved better. I guess this is because I've seen her story play out with much different results many times before and if my friends were going through what she did - her boyfriend constantly telling her to give him time, have patience, blah, blah, blah and as the years passed by, I don't know if I would encourage her to stick around. And if my friends got in my busines... mores the way their friends did, I'm not sure I'd be friends with them anymore. But, I have to give Hilary credit for truly trusting her gut and knowing that Mark really did just need time to trust. I cried several times during this book, especially during the 9/11 scene and when Hilary talked about the death of her father. It was a powerful read that goes to show that there are no steadfast rules in love or relationships and sometimes you just need to listen to your heart.
review 2: 5 STARS!! How long are you willing to wait for your HEA?Dangled Carat is not your typical love story. Hilary and Marc's love story is different and makes you realize that not always you will get what you wish for, and sometimes you must wait and be patient for it.Hilary, is a very smart woman that knows what she wants. When she meets Marc, their relationship started good, but the mixed signals he sends her are hard to keep up with them.Marc was an older gentleman, with a fear of failure on anything he did, especially in the love deptartment. He knew Hilary was the right woman for him but if their relationship was going to work it had to be done on his terms. Can Hilary and Marc relationship work with their issues both of them have? Can Hilary love Marc on his terms?I LOVE this book. This is a different kind of love story, I was taken back of how I was able to feel Hilary's emotions as I was reading the book.I will recommend this book. less
