The Loser List
review 1: When Danny Shine sees Asia, the girl he has a crush on, talking with the new kid, Ty Randall, not only does he get jealous, he wants to get even. Ty is a kid devoted to saving the planet and is involved in many eco-friendly projects, but when Danny hears Ty rapping, he knows he has found Ty’s weak spot. Planning a school wide talent show to publicly humiliate Ty is more work than Danny and his friend, Jasper, bargained for. Written in the journal style of DIARY OF A WIMPY KID, there is plenty of sarcasm, wit, humor, and goofy drawings. I thought the book had great characters; boys and girls who were basically good kids. Danny learns from his mistakes and misjudgments, which makes this book more appealing to me, as an adult. Although this is the 2nd book in the seri... morees, it can be read alone. There is some content that makes it unsuitable for younger than 5th grade.
review 2: This book is written in a way to be very appealing towards kids. The cover illustration shows that it will be a humorous book with lots of wit and sarcasm. The writing style is perfect for this book and tells the story in a very good way. The author does a good of using great details when it comes to describing the characters introduced in the book, as well as language that is used by kids this age. It is definitely a book that young readers around 12 would be able to realte to very well. The font style is similar to that of handwriting which gives the allusion that the main character, Danny, is writing in some type of diary. The dialogue used throughout the book is realistic for that age and relates well to that targeted audience. Cartoon, black and white, illustrations are found throughout the book which contributes to the story very well. I found that the illustrations and words go hand in hand with each other; they are both humorous and entertaining. I would recommend this book for anyone in the pre-teen age group. It will have them literally laughing out loud and never bored from beginning to end. less
