review 1: The book is a fine read and good for what it's intended. I think Schultz could have been more honest. Any entrepreneur's perspective is going to be skewed, but at some points, I feel like he spins the positives a bit too much and merely acknowledges with a sentence areas that would potentially spoil the comeback story. Sometimes the book feels more like a propaganda piece than Schultz's sharing of his life's work and lessons learned. That said, most readers can probably work around those areas, focus on the more genuine positive points, and get something out of the book.
review 2: A big sales pitch for Starbucks!I wish I had the time to read the book again just to count the number of times Shultz praises himself and Starbucks, and how buying a cup of coffee is
... moreabout changing lives. I bought it because I'm in business and finance, and I thought I might learn a few lessons about company turnarounds. Don't get me wrong, he does explain how he managed to do it, but only in bits and pieces. The rest was just him calling himself a God and the rest of his team saints. It's an easy read, but you can easily skip several pages whenever he praises Starbucks. less
