review 1: This is a book of which I was skeptical at first simply because it was in a genre I was not very familiar with at the start. Soon after starting it, I found I could not put it down. I read over certain parts two or three times not because of comprehension problems but purely because it was wonderfully well written and I felt that I had to read it over and over. The events are tragic and exciting, the writing is well suited to accompany that tone. Strongly recommend this novel.
review 2: If you watch the weather channel at all, you can see how the plot of this book could be real. Many storms don't seem to be as bad as they are, and people don't want to believe how bad they can get. This is a well written, fast-paced book. I've been to St. Simon island so I knew ... morethe area that was in the story. That always makes the book more interesting. I like to think I'm not stupid, but the book contained some words that made me glad there was a dictionary on my Kindle. You can get the gist of the meaning from the sentence, but when you take the time to look up the word, it added so much more to the story. I thought the ending was a little weak, but most fast-paced books do have weak endings. Still, all in all, it was a very enjoyable read. less
