review 1: I adored this book. It is a completely fresh and unique take on vampires. I loved that the story is based on an Egyptian legend, but for some of the societies they brought in some Norse lore also. It felt very diverse and the characters were very well written. I must say that though this story is very sexually charged it doesn’t encompass the whole story. Simone is one of the most prominent sexual beings but you really don’t see that until you are almost half-way through the book. You see her love for Antar but you don’t realize how sexual she is until her tryst with Anock and Odji her bodyguards. Also, I liked Simone but she was a bit aggravating at times. Sometimes, when it came to Arianna her half Sister she was very kind and protective but others she was ... moreso selfish and self-centered it seemed almost like a multiple personality. Though the book blurb really concentrates on Arianna and Tor’s story there are so many other people and stories going on you really develop a love for these characters and their search for love and blood. Overall, I felt this was a great new edition to the Vampire genre. It is fresh and unique. Its steeped in legends from Egypt to Norse. I personally can’t wait to read the next in the series. If you like Vampire books you will love this!
review 2: 4.5I'm always über excited to read about vampire. Since they are my favorite paranormal beings. Irina did a tremendous job with this novel not only did she give me vampires, winged half demon and and Egyptian mythology. While there were many characters she was able to tie each together and develop their role in the story. Blood bonds and the need to show who is stronger the Amiti or vampires. Learn who Simone loyalties lie. Her sister an Amiti or her father Tor king of the vampire. less
